The Taoiseach says the Dáil is currently due to reconvene next week - but he has not ruled out an election being called before that.
Leo Varadkar is due to meet Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin tonight, amid continuing speculation over when the upcoming general election will be held.
Fianna Fáil wants voters to have their say in April - with TD Lisa Chambers today insisting there needs to be clarity.
She said her party believes the 'natural point' to wind down the Dáil is after Easter.
However, Mr Varadkar has previously expressed his preference for a vote in May.
Speaking after a Cabinet meeting in north Dublin today, the Taoiseach suggested his Government can continue over the coming weeks if Fianna Fáil sticks with their confidence and supply arrangement of abstaining in key Dáil votes.

However, he said it's only worth continuing if the Government and the Dáil can push ahead with their planned work.
He observed: "The Cabinet is due to meet on Tuesday, the Dáil will be reconvened on Wednesday - that is the position until such a time as that may change.
"We'll have to see what happens over the next couple of days."
He argued that any questions over whether the situation could change would be asking him to 'predict the future'.
Mr Varadkar added: "We'll have to see how the meeting goes tonight... then I'll be having discussions with my own party, with independents who support the Government, and of course the other parties too."
He said there's "never a good time" for an election, and that politicians can wait for "sweet spots that never actually arise".
The Taoiseach also defended his own party's record in Government - saying he believes they'll have a "really strong record" to stand over whenever the election campaign happens this year.
