Tánaiste Leo Varadkar is "out of touch" with the realities of life along the Irish border, according to a Sinn Féin TD.
Pa Daly says it would be unrealistic to advise people against travelling to Northern Ireland.
It comes as the Government considers whether to tell people not to travel to Northern Ireland from next week, due to the region's COVID-19 crisis.
Mr Varadkar told his party's parliamentary party last night that the measure is being considered, but no final decision has been made.
It's believed Fianna Fáil is opposed to such a move.
Speaking to Newstalk Breakfast, Deputy Daly - Sinn Féin TD for Kelly - dismissed Leo Varadkar's suggestion.
He said: "I think he's kind of out of touch really with the realities of life along the border.
"One person I know, she lives in Fermanagh... she goes to mass every morning in Co Cavan. People go to school on one side of the border, they live on the other side... [same with] work."
Deputy Daly suggested it's "not really going to be possible" to isolate one side of the border from the other given its open nature.
He added: "We'll have to wait and see what NPHET says, but I think just coming out and saying 'you can't go across the border'... that's ignoring the reality of the situation".
