Verona Murphy has officially been deselected as a Fine Gael candidate for the next General Election following a meeting of the party's Executive Council this evening.
Ms Murphy had confirmed earlier today that she would not be contesting the seat in the Wexford constituency.
She had unsuccessfully run as a candidate in the recent by-election in the county.
Ms Murphy, who is the head of the Irish Road Hauliers Association caused controversy during the campaign by suggesting some asylum seekers needed to be "deprogrammed".
She subsequently apologised for her comments.
The Executive Council selected Ministers Michael D’Arcy and Paul Kehoe tonight for the election ticket.
At the same meeting, it was decided to add Councillor Karen Coakley to the Fine Gael ticket for the Cork South West constituency.
Councillor Coakley joins Senator Tim Lombard contesting the next General Election.
