Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a gun was fired on a residential estate in Ennis, County Clare.
It happened just after 10pm on Friday night in the Acha Bhile estate.
A man in his 40's has been questioned in connection with the incident.
Clare Deputy Mayor Mary Howard lives in the area and described the news as a scary development.
“Thankfully, nobody was injured,” she said.
“It’s very easy for things to go wrong; particularly for somebody who has nothing to do with what’s happening - an innocent bystander if a shot goes astray.
“Nobody has been injured but it’s very scary and very frightening.”
Gardaí are particularly interested in talking to anyone with camera footage and they are encouraged to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 684 8100.
