Victims of crime will soon be given reasons - when a decision is taken not to prosecute their offender.

A new EU directive will give victims the right to get reasons in offences such as rape, child sexual abuse and harassment.

At the annual national prosecutors conference in Dublin Castle this morning - it was confirmed that this will come into Irish Law by November 2015.

Currently, the DPP's office only gives reasons for not prosecuting in cases involving fatalities.

'One is four' provides support for people who've experienced sexual abuse and violence.

Their exectutive director, Meave Lewis told 98FM News, that they welcome this move;
