Actress Victoria Smurfit has launched an online raffle with the aim of raising €50,000 for a charity offering support to people experiencing blindness and sight loss.
It comes after Victoria's daughter Evie was diagnosed with the rare genetic eye disorder macular dystrophy, which causes central vision loss.
The condition was diagnosed by a specialist after Evie struggled to see the board at school.
Victoria explains: "How do you start to make sense of something you can’t fix for your kid? It’s an untenable thought. When you’re the parent, it’s your job to fix what’s wrong with your kid.
"There have been a thousand sleepless nights, googling, looking for ways, looking for avenues... The best I could come up with was to empower her. Not let her hide under a rock. Not to be a victim, but to have her perceived flaw be her superpower."
Victoria and Evie are now working to raise awareness of the condition and what it means.
The Ballykissangel star is holding an online raffle to raise funds for the Fighting Blindness charity, which works to cure and support people with sight loss.
A €5 donation will give people a chance to win a three-night stay for two in the Blonde Hedgehog Hotel in Alderney in the Channel Islands.
The prize includes a private plane to the island from Denham Aerodrome near Heathrow Airport, and the draw will be held on Tuesday June 30th.
