Christopher Chase, who had 'Cop Killer' tattooed across his knuckles, was pursued through the streets of Albuquerque, New Mexico by scores of police officers.

Dressed in body armour and camouflage, the 35-year-old told witnesses to call police and to tell them he was waiting for them.

The police footage begins with a female officer - Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputy Robin Hopkins - informing others over a radio that she is under fire.

Video shot from the lapel cameras of officers involved in the chase shows one police car arriving at the scene to the sound of several gunshots.

A male officer can then be seen being tended to by a colleague for a gunshot wound to his left leg after his police cruiser was stolen by Chase.

An officer can be heard shouting, "which way did he go?" - as a pursuit of Chase begins to the background noise of police sirens.

Deputy Hopkins is then found slumped in her car with her mouth open.

Scenes of chaos follow in which officers can be heard shouting expletives and instructions as they try to make sense of the fast-moving situation.

"She's been shot, she's been shot," shouts a male officer.

The 16-mile police pursuit continues and officers receive information about Chase's whereabouts and instructions that  "if someone has a clear shot to take the vehicle out".

The next clip appears to show an officer firing a machine gun through the windscreen of his car with his right hand as he steers the vehicle with his left.

A gun battle then takes place at a petrol station when the same officer appears to have stepped out of his car and can be seen reloading the weapon before he shoots again.

Several police cars can be seen on the forecourt with officers stood by their vehicles, pointing their weapons.

Chase was found slumped over the steering wheel of the police cruiser he stole, with blood splattered all over the interior of the vehicle.

He is said to have shot four police officers in total on October 26, three received minor injuries while a fourth suffered a shattered thigh bone.

Details of his autopsy have now finally been released by the Office of the Medical Investigator which reveal he was shot three times in the neck, once in the back of his head and his upper back, twice in his left arm and there was also a gunshot wound to his scalp.

The 27-page report said Chase's brain was so "extensively lacerated" from at least two of the shots, that it was impossible to trace the trajectories of individual bullets.

Investigators also found blunt-force injuries to his head and upper left arm.

APD officials are yet to confirm whether Chase died from shots fired by the officers who were pursuing him.
