A motorway in Hong Kong descended into chaos when motorists and pedestrians rushed to grab the contents of an armoured truck after almost €3.6m in HK$500 notes spilled onto the road.
The local police force has asked the residents of Wan Chai to return the money, and have started arresting members of the public who attempted to pocket the cash. The South China Morning Post reports that the authorities have so far managed to trace almost €500,000 worth of the money on the road and elsewhere.
A local police officer said: "We found the money stored under the bed at their homes and they admitted they took the money on Gloucester after getting off the taxi they were in."
