Committed to unveiling one work a day for the month of October, Banksy's 'residency' of NY City has so far produced everything from a slaughterhouse truck filled with stuffed animals to a giant Ronald McDonald statue having its shoes shined by a (real) 'boy'. The unusual exhibition has caused some minor anarchy in the city. The works have attracted huge crowds as well as opportunistic individuals looking to make a quick buck. Several pieces, including a number of Banksy's trademark stencil paintings, have been destroyed by rival graffiti artists.

One of the most headline-grabbing pieces saw the street artist set up a stealth stall selling his prints for only $60 (€44) a piece - prints that are usually worth tens of thousands of euro each. With the modest stall offering no hints that these were genuine Banksy works rather than some cheap knock-offs, only three very lucky customers opted to buy one.

With eagle-eyed Banksy fans and art collectors hoping that such a stunt will be repeated, they were inevitably drawn to a stand selling self-proclaimed 'Fake Banksy' prints. Set up at the same spot as the previous stand, those who stumbled across the streetside display were clearly hoping it was the real deal carrying out another of his pranks. No such luck: these were definite fakes, but that didn't stop all 40 selling out within an hour. Someone even bought the stall's sign.

Check out the video below. The actual Banksy NY project will continue until the end of the month. You can see all the works so far at the Banksy NY website.
