Back in May, Commander Chris Hadfield handed command of the ISS to Pavel Vinogradov. Now, along with Chris Cassidy and fellow Russian Aleksandr Misurkin, Vinogradov has successfully landed back on Earth, passing command of the space station on to Expedition 37 leader Fyodor Yurchikhin and his two teammates. They will be joined by three more astronauts later this month, and the mission will last until November.

It might not have captured the public imagination quite like Hadfield's efforts with Expedition 35, but the Expedition 36 team continued the good work and experimentation of their many predecessors.

The mission did make headlines back in June when Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano's helmet unexpectedly filled with water during a spacewalk, forcing the team to cut the walk short and return to the ISS.
