An experienced base-jumper had a miraculous escape after his parachute failed during a 1,000 foot jump.
Matthew Gough, 25, was leaping off a precipe near Lake Garda, Italy when his chute twisted, sending him into freefall.
The base-jumper bounced down the cliff but fortunately only suffered minor injuries to his legs, despite the distance and speed. He also appeared to be fully conscious after landing at the bottom of the cliff, although he seemed to be suffering from a nose bleed.
He spent a short period in hospital, before being allowed home to the UK.
Gough said: "Everything was going fine and then I pulled the parachute.
"It comes down to simple bad luck, nothing else, the conditions were fine, the parachute twisted and when it inflated it was facing backwards."
The entire incident was caught on a camera attached to his body.
