While many stars were attending the lavish parties of the Golden Globes weekend, a few were at a fundraiser organised by actor and director Sean Penn. Those lucky few were rewarded with an intimate, surprise performance by U2.
Bono said "It's been a while since we played a hotel lounge. I think the last time was a bar mitzvah."
Bette Midler, Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Charlize Theron, Piers Morgan and Kathryn Bigelow were among the guests at Penn's third annual Help Haiti Home benefit on Saturday.
The event raised nearly $6 million for his J/P Haitian Relief Organisation.
Penn's organisation works to provide emergency care and shelter to the people of Haiti since the 2010 earthquake took place there. Penn says he hopes his organisation won't be needed in the next 10 years, as he hopes all of the necessary rebuilding should have taken place by then.
"I'm not satisfied. I want more," he said. "But this couldn't have happened in the United States: This amount of clean up, this amount of resilience."
