Virgin Media Ireland has said it is working hard to fix an issue that has left customers across Ireland facing a series of broadband outages.

The outages began at around 5pm this evening.

A spokesperson for the company has apologised to customers for the inconvenience.

“We’re currently investigating an intermittent broadband issue that started earlier this evening,” he said.

“This issue is seeing broadband connectivity interrupted for a very short period of time before being restored.

“Our teams are urgently looking into the problem and will work flat out to fix it.

“We know how frustrating this is for customers and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Meanwhile, virgin customers in the UK are also experiencing issues, with thousands of people complaining online.

UK Virgin Media said it is “investigating an intermittent broadband issue that lasted for a very short period of time earlier this evening.”
