Yesterday Volkswagen presented their new Touran. The MPV has been completely redesigned and now offers more space than ever before. The manufacturer also tells us that the family mobile is now up to 19% more economical.
The third generation of the Touran has been given a slightly sportier look to the exterior and inside has been given a makeover. Volkswagen has played around with some new space solutions to ensure more room by using a fold-flat system with the seats. The MPV offers a staggering 47 storage compartments too.
The wheelbase is longer than before and the car contains very short over hangs, which aids the extra space inside. Despite the extra length in the vehicle it actually weighs in at 62kg lighter than its predecessor. This weight loss means better fuel economy from its three new petrol and diesel engines. All of these cars feature Stop/Start technology and brake energy recuperation systems as standard.
Volkswagen will offer AppConnect with CarPlay from Apple, Android Auto from Google and MirrorLink as part of the five infotainment systems available with the vehicle. Another optional extra with the car is an electronic voice activation system which uses a microphone in the “front passenger area to relay speech to the rear seat rows via the speakers installed in the rear.”
The public premiere of the new Volkswagen Touran will take place at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. This vehicle will come to Ireland in November as a seven-seater only.
