Warning issued over radioactive material stolen in Dublin

The gardaí are warning the public to be on the look out for highly dangerous radioactive material which was stolen from a premises in north Dublin over the weekend.

They were taken during the course of a burglary in Swords.

It is described as seven lightning preventers, which were contained in a red metal box. They have the appearance of aluminium or stainless steel but are of no scrap value.

Gardaí are warning that this material is highly dangerous and should not be touched or approached.

Anyone who discovers these items should contact the gardaí at Swords on 01-6664700 or the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland on 01-2066913 immediately.
