Motorists are being advised to exercise extreme caution this morning as road temperatures are below freezing in many areas.
The AA is warning that icy conditions are a problem on motorways and secondary routes and are making conditions treacherous.
In Kildare Gardai have had to close a section of the M7 motorway between the Monasterevin and Ballybrittas junctions while they deal with a number of collisions.
Diversions are in place.
Several minor crashes have also occurred on the M2 in County Meath between the Ashbourne South and St. Margaret's junctions.

- Icy on the Letterkenny/Glenties Rd (R250) at Meenaroy.

- Treacherous conditions in Fermoy and on the N25/Waterford Rd at Midleton.
The AA is advising motorists to reduce their speed and give plenty of extra time to de-ice thier car before driving.
