Police in Washington in the United States have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a 22-mont-old toddler.
The incident was caught on camera, with the startling footage showing a male carrying the small child in his arms as he runs down the street in the town of Sprague, trailed by the toddler’s siblings.
"Deputies and detectives have worked relentlessly on this case," Lincoln County Sherrif Wade Magers said in a press release, according to the Associated Press.
The police identified the 15-year-old as a suspect in the past 24 hours.
"Additional evidence, interviews, DNA collection, and surveillance" were conducted, Magers said, before "a search warrant was executed at the suspect's residence."
Seeing the toddler’s siblings, age 10 and eight, chasing the male, several individuals joined the chase, leading to the male dropping the toddler before escaping.
One of the victim’s siblings was able to positively identify the suspect, police have said.
Police say the man spoke to the children for a few minutes before lifting the child from his pram and running down the street.
The screams of the child’s sister, Delicia, alerted others who then gave chase.
The children had been playing in a playground close to the home of their baby sitter, in the small town of Sprague, population approximately 500.
