A choir in Co Cork has recorded and released a multilingual Christmas carol as a 'message of hope' for all those stranded away from home this year.
Fermoy International Choir includes 100 members from 24 different countries, and recorded their version of Silent Night remotely.
They've now released their version of the Christmas classic on YouTube and social media, with an accompanying video of festive messages.
Choir founder Graham Clifford told Hazel Chu on today's Lunchtime Live the idea for the choir came out of recent efforts to find ways to work towards greater community integration.
He said: "Fermoy's a really interesting town, like so many others - 23% of the town would have come from somewhere other than Ireland originally.
"It's very diverse - we were saying we can harness this wonderful diversity.
"We often think about migrants not being able to return home to their families... but of course we have people here who can't go home to their loved ones."
He noted there are also many people who would have booked their flights home almost a year ago, and now won't be able to do so.
He observed: "We were very conscious of that when we made this song and video.
"It was about people from other countries originally who are working here... as much as it's about Irish migrants abroad and their families here."
