The most expensive Chinese movie of all time is set to be released in early 2017 at budget of $135 million. The Great Wall will take you 1,000 years in to the past, and tells the tale of the construction of one of the Wonders of the World.

Directed by Zhang Yimou, the filmmaker responsible for House of Flying Daggers and Hero, it stars an international cast of actors including Matt Damon, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Willem Dafoe (Platoon), and Chinese superstar Andy Lau.

And before you think this will be a sombre depiction of the making of a 13,000-mile wall, the movie is actually about monsters.
