A French weather presenter has issued an apology to American actor Jonah Hill after a moment of attempted comedy mocking the star bombed on French TV. The interview, carried out on the French TV show Le Grand Journal was widely seen online and sparked outrage in France where TV viewers ridiculed the wannabe comedienne for her bad taste.
Ornella Fleury, better known as Miss Météo on the Canal Plus show, mocked Hill in a bizarre scene that saw her poking fun at his looks and describing how she watched him be sodomised in one of his films. Fleury then suggested that Hill indulge a sexual fantasy of hers by inviting his movie star friends Leonardo di Caprio and Brad Pitt around to his hotel room with her – suggesting that Hill leave the three of them to it.
Hill, who was in France on the press tour for War Dogs, mostly sat through the skit with a baffled grin on his face. He then gave a thumbs up and thanked the producers for “being invited on to the programme to be ridiculed by a local journalist.”
Hill then decided to cancel all his publicity interviews in France, including an appearance at the Deauville Film Festival, after being ridiculed on Le Grand Journal.
Fleury, after receiving a barrage of negative press from all over the world, appeared again on the show this week to offer an apology to the actor. Speaking directing into the camera, she said: “Jonah, the problem is that for 10 years I have lived with you through your films. In fact, Jonah, I really had the impression that I knew you. So last Friday, I thought I was just messing around with a friend, but the reality is that we are not friends.
“No, the reality is that you have two Oscar nominations I have two videos on my YouTube account. You have made films with Scorsese and Tarantino and me... I have made an advert with [French cleaning brand] Spontex.”
