In a time piece that took three expert watchmakers eight years to build, with 2,826 parts, and estimated to worth around $10m (€8.8m), the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer Vacheron Constantin has created The Reference 57260, reportedly the most complicated timepiece in the world.
"Combining traditional watchmaking principles with the latest technological advances, the Reference 57260 watch is a wholly original creation with a total of 57 complications, some of which are unique, including multiple calendars and a double retrograde split-seconds chronograph," says Vacheron Constantin.
The complications include eight different Hebraic calendar functions, nine astronomical functions, seven alarm functions, and seven perpetual calendar functions. It’s unclear how loud or annoying the watch’s ticking is.
With the company’s reputation for building some of the most exclusive watches in the world, with only the wealthiest watch-wearers capable of footing the bill, the company has not revealed who put in the order for this one-of-a-kind pocket watch.
