2017 got off to a rocky start for the elusive chanteuse Mariah Carey after technical difficulties saw her abandon her New Year's Eve concert in New York.
During her headline performance on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, the singer stopped singing her song "Emotions," paced the stage and told the audience to finish the lyrics for her.
"I'm trying to be a good sport here," she told the crowd.
At the end of her performance she abruptly walked off stage and signed off with: "It just don’t get any better."

A representative for the singer confirmed there were technical difficulties.
Carey took to Instagram after the performance saying, "Here's to making more headlines in 2017."
Social media reacted accordingly to the performance.
I think Russia hacked Mariah Carey's microphone. Knock it off Putin, you're taking it a bit too far...
