Movies based on video-games have a long history of ... not being very good.
However, 2016 looks set to change that, with at least FOUR potential hopefuls looking to buck that trend.
Elsewhere in the year we've got Angry Birds, Ratchet & Clank and Assassin's Creed to look forward to, but one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer is sure to be Warcraft.
Looking to mix together elements from The Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter and Avatar, this movie is based on a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (or MMORPG, for you cool kids) with over 100 million people worldwide already providing a bulit-in audience.
The trailer doesn't give too much of the plot away - some humans and some orcs are good, some humans and some orcs are bad, they fight - but the visuals sure do look pretty.
Coming from the director of Moon and Source Code (and, fact fans, he's also David Bowie's son!), and starring Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Vikings' Travis Fimmel, Dominic Cooper and Toby Kebbell, Warcraft will arrive in Irish cinemas on May 29th.
