The zoo in Odense, Denmark’s third-biggest city, is infamously known around the world for its public dissections – in front of children – of a lion in 2015, and a giraffe the year before. So it’s no wonder its penguins made a failed attempt to escape.
The penguins’ valiant bid for freedom saw the five birds manage to get all the way to a hallway meant for zoo staffers to make their way around the complex. But the penguins’ plot was foiled due to their failure to cover their tracks, and when they were finally rumbled by a keeper, they did what anyone in their situation would – made a run for it.
“Perhaps our penguins have seen The Penguins of Madagascar too much?” reads a translation of the video’s YouTube description.
Clearly, they haven’t seen it enough.
