For those not in the know, Kendrick Lamar's album To Pimp A Butterfly is probably one of (if not THE) best album of 2015.
Released back in March, the end of year accolades have been stacking up:
- Billboard: Best Album of the Year
- Complex: Best Album of the Year
- Consequence Of Sound: Best Album of the Year
- Entertainment Weekly: Best Album of the Year
- NME: Second Best Album of the Year (runner up to Art Angels by Grimes)
- Pitchfork: Best Album of the Year
- Rolling Stone: Best Album of the Year
- Slant Magazine: Best Album of the Year
- Spin: Best Album of the Year
- Stereogum: Second Best Album of the Year (runner up to Art Angels by Grimes)
- The Guardian: Best Album of the Year
- The New York Times: Best Album of the Year
- Time: Third Best Album of the Year (#1 went to Wildheart by Miguel, #2 to No Cities To Love by Sleater-Kinney)
- Vice: Best Album of the Year
So its clear that this is something to sit up and pay attention to, and when Lamar decided to end the year with a gripping short film that also acts as a music video to two tracks from the album, then it's definitely worth watching.
The clip covers both "u" and "For Sale?", and is particularly NSFW.
