Two decades after launching the careers of Ewan McGregor and director Danny Boyle, the first teaser trailer has arrived for the long-awaited Trainspotting sequel. The film, set for release next year and officially going into its filming schedule today, reunites all of the principal cast members from the cult classic, presenting fans with a whole new monologue of choices to make.
While the teaser shows no new footage for the film, piecing together instead clips from the 1996 original, fans won’t be disappointed to learn that Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life is back as the film’s signature music.
The teaser does confirm that the title of the sequel will be T2, and that Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, and Robert Carlyle will reprise the roles as Renton, Spud, Sick Boy, and Begbie, respectively.
With Danny Boyle back at the helm, T2 was written by John Hodge, who penned the screenplay of the original, and the film is a loose adaptation of novelist Irvine Welsh’s Porno, the sequel he wrote to his own book Trainspotting.
