Having already made a splash on the festival circuit, Damien Chazelle’s new musical La La Land arrives on this side of the Atlantic on December 9th, considered a frontrunner at next February’s Academy Awards.
The film sees Emma Stone in the role of an aspiring actress coming to terms with the rejection of an auditioning wannabe star, who encounters jazz musician Ryan Gosling on the same night that he is fired from an LA club, by Chazelle’s Whiplash collaborator JK Simmons. Thrown together, the pair falls in love and explores their dreams through song and dance numbers in contemporary tinsel town.
The film co-stars John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, Finn Wittrock, Tom Everett Scott, and Josh Pence. Take a look at the charming trailer below:
