In a summer schedule packed with unwelcome sequels, CGI behemoths, and poorly plotted franchise fodder, at least Sharknado manages to be all three at once. The Syfy schlockbuster is back for its fourth instalment, its intoxicating mix of trash and cameos heading straight for Las Vegas. Expect a joke about Sin City becoming Fin City to be delivered poorly at some point during the run time.
Set five years after the third film created the perfect shitstorm, Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens sees Ian Ziering and Tara Reid still struggling to keep their family safe from the poorly rendered computer-animated sharks that fall from the sky.
The trailer shows the people of Vegas getting pummelled by the increasingly frequent weather phenomenon. Chippendales fend off the shark attacks with their thrusting hips, while the surviving cast up the ante even further. Cameos this time around include David Hasselhoff, Cheryl Tiegs, Gary Busey, Steve Guttenburg, Stacey Dash, Gilbert Gottfried, and Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens will debut on Syfy on Sunday, July 31st and will likely air on this side of the Atlantic in the days after. You can watch the trailer in full below:
