A new advertisement from the National Autistic Society in the United Kingdom attempts to depict what it's like to be a young child with autism, to help people understand it better.

The video shows a young boy entering a shopping centre, and the sensory overload experienced by an autistic child in a place that people without autism would not consider to be a challenging environment.

The campaign from National Autistic Society highlights what a terrifying experience that can be, and how the overload of information can be so difficult to deal with.

The closing message is that "I'm not naughty, I'm autistic", highlighting how it's important to understand that the boy is trying to process too much information.

The video coincides with a number of events planned to mark Autism Awareness Day, including landmarks around the world lighting up blue on Saturday as part of an initiative from the United Nations.
