YouTube have released this year's 'Rewind' video; their annual look back at the stories and videos that made the most noise on the internet in the past 12 months.

As usual, the soundtrack is a mashup of the biggest songs of the year, while the video itself comprises a number of trends that have been dominating the vlogs and content of the site in 2015. 

From the retrospectives that trace the history of fashion across the decades to pizza rat and left shark, the video makes a number of hat-tips to the big cultural events that took place over the year, at least as far as the internet is concerned. 

A number of famous faces also appear in the video, albeit briefly, such as James Corden and John Oliver, while some of the site's biggest stars over the years also feature, from Rainbow hippy guy to Rebecca Black, given the site celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2015. 

If you keep a very close eye out, you might also see Irish "ninja" Jesse Jane McParland make an appearance too.
