The introduction of water charges could be pushed back by around twelve months.

According to the Sunday Times, the Government plan to delay payment of the charge until 2015 in an effort to ease the burden on households following the introduction of the property tax.

However, the coalition will first have to seek approval from the Troika before implement the change. 

Meanwhile, a new opinion poll reveals that over a quarter of homeowners do not intend on paying the property tax. 

The Red C poll for the Sunday Business Post shows that 29 per cent of those eligible for the tax say they do not plan on paying it.
