An Antrim farmer is celebrating after his pet bull “Archie” made it into the record books for being the shortest in the world.

Archie, who is 76cms (30ins) tall, was originally destined to be made into burgers but, after he failed to grow sufficiently by Christmas time, the family decided to keep him as a pet.

Despite being the named the shortest bull in the world, Archie’s owner Ryan Lavery says feels that Archie still feels the big man on the farm.

Ryan said that he was delighted that his Dexter bull, had made it into the Guinness Book of Records.

‘I knew Archie was small but I never realised he was that small,’ he said. ‘It is just brilliant and amazing to have him as a Guinness world record holder.’

Ryan also said that he hopes Archie will be able to raise the profile of the Dexter breed, which originates from the Cork and Kerry regions.

People should underestimate Archie due to his size, as according to farmer Ryan Archie is able to hold his own as well as having temperamental mood swings now and again.
