Waterford city is to attempt to break the work record for the largest bowl of Porridge ever made in a fortnights time.

As part of the attempt Flahavans is to cook up a massive 914 Kg of porridge – capable of feeding 5,000 people.

914 is the year the city was founded by the Vikings. The existing record of 865 is held by Russia.

The effort is part of the Harvest festival which takes place on September 16th.
