Met Eireann has issued weather alerts as strong winds are set to batter the country.
Donegal is likely to bear the brunt, with gusts of between 100 and 120 kilometres an hour expected, leading to an orange alert being in place for the county.
A deepening depression in the Atlantic is moving towards the northwest of Scotland, leading winds to increase over the next few hours.
The winds will remain at peak power only for a short while, hitting their top strength sometime shortly before midnight. After midnight the strength of the winds will gradually decrease and abating considerably before tomorrow morning.
A yellow warning is in effect for Munster, Leinster, Connacht, Cavan and Monaghan.
