A rainfall alert has been issued for parts of the country as heavy rain continues. Met Eireann has forecast up to 30 millimetres of rain with up to 40 millimetres in parts of Leinster.
Munster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan will also see heavy downpours with a risk of some localised flooding.
Spells of heavy rain in Leinster and east Connacht will move to Ulster and become persistent, with heavy and locally thundery showers affecting southern and western counties.
While tonight will see further outbreaks of heavy rain in north Ulster, and isolated showers elsewhere.
Met Eireann says some showers will still heavy and possibly thundery tonight in the south-west and west with lowest temperatures 7 to 11 degrees.
Tomorrow showers in the south-west and west are forecast to become more widespread by the afternoon - but all areas will have sunny spells with highs of 18 degrees.
