Wednesday's weather: Mostly dry with sunny spells; Top temperatures 8C to 10C

TODAY

Patchy rain in the west will gradually move eastwards this morning and early afternoon, dying out as it does so, with the east of the country remaining mostly dry.

Skies will clear from the west with good sunny spells developing in most areas. Isolated showers will most likely follow in the north and west later.

Highs of 8C to 10C in light to moderate southwesterly breezes – which will be fresh to strong on northwest coasts.

TONIGHT

There will be a few clear spells early tonight with isolated showers becoming confined to the northwest.

Cloud will then thicken with more widespread rain reaching the west coast before dawn and spreading eastwards.

Lowest temperatures in the early part of the night of 1C to 3C in the east and 2C to 5C in the west – with some frost possible in eastern areas.

Moderate southwesterly winds increasing fresh to strong around coasts.
