Galway Arts Festival

Ireland’s most renowned arts festival will have many events taking place this weekend with musical performances from Cork band Fred (Roisin Dubh 9.30 Saturday), Damien Dempsey (Monroes, 9.30 Sunday) and traditional Irish music band Tola Custy are having a lunchtime performance at Kellys today. If you are in Galway today, you can go behind the scenes  by talking to artists and actors about their performances throughout the festival at Galway Gallery at 2 today. Police Academy comedian Michael Winslow will also be performing  tonight at Seapoint in Salthill.  Visual sculpture David Mach will be displaying his exhibition Precious Light at the Galway Shopping centre.

style="text-align: left;">One of the most anticipated movies of 2012 has finally been released. While the movie has received mixed reviews from critics mostly surrounding the length of the movie, Batman fans seem delighted with the finale of the franchise. Dark Knight mostly surrounds Bruce Wayne who has now become a recluse since fighting his former battles with previous enemies leaving Gotham to remain relatively crime free, until another villain called Bane which forces Batman to rise again.

style="text-align: left;">Another Arts festival taking place today with various venues in Erris and North West Mayo. The international folk festival has been running for 17 years and features a variety of acts to suit all ages. The festival performances will include the Children and Adult choir, The Northumberland Ranters and Swiss violinists No Crows. The festival comes to an conclusion today so if you are in the Mayo area check out the closing acts before it comes to an end.

style="text-align: left;"> For country music lovers comes Ireland’s first ever country music festival featuring varied acts from Mike Denver, Robert Mizell, Crystal Swing, Paddy O’Brien and Louise Morrissey. The festival is taking place this Sunday at GAA pitch in Thurles featuring a dancefloor on the pitch for everyone to sway to their favourite country tunes
