The families of elderly nursing home residents in West Dublin are stepping up their campaign to stop them being moved to a different home.
The HSE plans to relocate 68 residents from Cherry Orchard Hospital to one in Clondalkin for a year while works are carried out.
Families say the plan is unfair to the residents, who are mostly in their 80s and 90s.
The families will meet with the HSE today to put their case forward. They are also meeting with local councillors and plan to hold a demonstration outside Cherry Orchard Hospital.
Ann Sweeney's 96-year-old father John is one of the residents.
She told Newstalk that moving him now would be cruel.
She said her family picked Cherry Orchard Hospital because there are medical facilities on site.
''Ballyfermot blood is in my dad's veins,” she said. “It was a fantastic comfort to say to our dad that he was moving to full time care but that it was in Ballyfermot.
“When he asks where he is and I can say you are in Cherry Orchard in Ballyfermot, he can relate to it.”
Ms Sweeney said she is ''devastated'' at the thought of having to move her father for 12 months.
She said it is not just about her father – noting that a total of 68 families are heartbroken at the plan.
She said some of the residents have nobody to advocate for them – and they weren't consulted about the move.
