A woman charged with murdering two of her children in a Westmeath car fire has been remanded in custody for a further month.

48-year-old Lynn Egar from Winetown, Rathowen, County Westmeath appeared before Athlone District Court by videolink this morning.

She is charged with the murder of her five-year-old daughter Thelma Dennany and two-year-old son Mikey Dennany on September 9th.

The children died in a car suffered serious injuries and died in a car fire in Multyfarnham, Westmeath.

Ms Egar was last week brought to court charged with murder and was remanded in custody until today.

This morning, she appeared before Judge Bernadette Owens by video link and was remanded in custody for a further four weeks.

She is now due to appear before Mullingar District Court on October 27th via video link.

DPP directions are expected to be ready by that date.
