What exactly is a shaman and why is demand for their services booming?
Shamanism is not a tradition most would associate strongly with Ireland.
However, Dublin-based Celtic Shamanic Healer Laoise Redmond McGrath describes it as a “nature based wisdom tradition” that all people can connect with.
“Our ancestors were practising a version of it in every civilisation around the world,” she told Sarah Madden for Newstalk Breakfast.
“When the church would have come here, however many hundred years ago, there was a concerted effort to stamp out what they would have seen were pagan traditions.
“And really, all the people were doing was living in sync with nature.
“For me, Shamanism is about remembering the true essence of who we are - because we are all nature.”
