/> Everyone knows the story of the famous fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. The new joint project of the National Art Museum and the Canadian-American artist of Ukrainian origin Taras Polataiko brings the fairy tale into life with a modern touch. Young ladies will not be actually sleeping but will only pretend to be sleeping for two hours each day and will be waiting for their Prince Charming.

Six selected beauties will sleep, alternating, for three days. The main task of every young lady is to get kisses from “Princes.” Anyone can participate in this art event if he or she paid 20 hryvnias of entry fee and passed herpes control.

However, there is still more to kissing. Young men who want to kiss a beauty before entering the hall sign a contract ”“ agreement to marry the girl if she opens her eyes during the kiss. All of the six beauties have also signed such contract. Those who refuse to marry will be penalized.

“It turned out that there are not that many young ladies who dream to marry a prince. More than 100 girls submitted their applications, but only 20 came to the interview,” said Taras POLATAIKO, artist, author of the project “Sleeping Beauty.”

“However, just the desire to marry is not enough for the project. You need to have the courage to lie like this without moving at all in a white dress in the museum hall. And then if you open your eyes you have to be ready to marry the guy. It is a mandatory condition.”

“I am very interested in fairytale therapy and even once considered doing a research on this,” said Yana HURZHII, a 25-year-old participant of the project, graduate of Kyiv Mohyla Academy. “Today’s world is so crazy that one can only find rescue, escape, or help, whatever you call it. This project is a good example of how art and a fairy tale become a part of our real life. However, of course, it is just an adventure. At this point I am not scared but very curious.”

For all the single ladies and single men out there, would you take a chance like this to meet your true love?
