The wife of retired Fine Gael politician Peter Barry has passed away.

Mrs Margaret Barry passed away peacefully at the Bon Secours Hospital in Cork yesterday following an illness.

She was the wife of Former Tanaiste, Minister for Foreign Affiars, and Cork South Central TD Peter Barry - he retired from politics in 1997.

Mrs Margaret Barry was also the mother of current Fine Gael Senator Deirdre Clune.

Removal will take place Monday evening at 7pm to St Michael's Church in Blackrock followed by requiem mass on Tuesday at 11am with burial at St Michael's Cemetery in Blackrock in Cork.
