Weather warnings have been issued for the weekend, ahead of the arrival of Storm Ciara.
The status yellow wind and rainfall warnings cover the entire country from Saturday morning - meaning the warnings will be in effect for election day on Saturday.
According to the Met Éireann, winds on Saturday will reach mean speeds of 50-65km/h with gusts reaching 90-110km/h.
Very strong winds are also expected on Sunday, with a risk of damaging gusts.
Forecasters say: "Over the weekend the combination of Spring Tides and high seas, as well as stormy conditions, will result in an elevated risk of coastal flooding - especially along southern, western and northwestern coasts."
That warning is will be in effect from 9 am on Saturday until 11:59 pm on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the rainfall warning will be valid from midday on Saturday until 3 pm on Sunday.
A spell of heavy rain is expected to spread eastwards across the country on Saturday - with accumulations of 20-40mm expected, highest in the west and northwest.
Heavy rain and 'squally wintry showers' are also expected on Sunday, with a risk of localised flooding across the weekend.
Storm Ciara was named by the UK Met Office on Wednesday, with the storm also expected to bring "very unsettled weather" to the UK and parts of north-west Europe in the coming days.
