A man has told the Adrian Donohoe murder trial that he saw a car speeding towards a site where the suspected getaway car was found burnt out.
Aaron Brady of New Road, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh denies the Detective's capital murder and has also pleaded not guilty to robbery.
Mr McBride said he was feeding his cattle on his farm in south Armagh on the night of January 25th, 2013 when he saw a black BMW 5-series driving very fast towards an area where a burnt-out VW Passat was later found.
The prosecution say the VW Passat was used as a getaway car for an armed robbery at a credit union in Co Louth, during which Detective Adrian Donohoe was shot dead.
Mr McBride said he saw the same BMW driving back from that area about 15-20 minutes after he first saw it.
Another witness told the court she saw two cars driving "very fast" near the credit union sometime after 9pm on the night in question.
She said she recognised one of the cars by its personalised number plate.
Aaron Brady has pleaded not guilty to capital murder and robbery. His trial will resume tomorrow.
