A woman has died after driving into a ditch in Belmullet, County Mayo.
Two passengers, a man and a woman both in their early 20s, were removed to Mayo University Hospital to be treated with non-life threatening injuries.
The single car road traffic collision occurred at Corlough West last night, Friday January 28th at approximately 9:15pm.
The 22-year-old female driver was fatally injured when the car she was driving left the road and collided with a ditch.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to the mortuary in Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.
The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision investigators are conducting an examination of the scene this morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.
