A woman in her 30's has died after her car collided with a bus in Co. Donegal.

The crash happened on the N13 between Letterkenny and Derry near Newtowncunningham at around half past three this afternoon.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Three children travelling in the car at the time were taken by ambulance to Hospital in Derry.

The driver of the bus was uninjured.

The road remains closed to traffic this evening while Garda forensic investigators examine the scene - diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Letterkenny are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
