A man has been arrested after a woman died in a hit and run in County Donegal.
The 34-year-old pedestrian was hit by a van that failed to stay at the scene on the N15 at Townparks in Lifford at around 2:45am this morning.
The injured pedestrian was taken to University Hospital Letterkenny where she was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí have been searching for a white van believed to be involved in the incident.
This afternoon, the force said a man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is now being held at Letterkenny Garda Station.
Any witnesses to the crash - including those with dash cam footage from the area - are being asked to come forward.
