A woman has died after a crash in County Mayo.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision that happened at 12pm today on the N17 at Claremorris.

One of the motorists, a woman aged in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was moved to the mortuary at Castlebar Hospital where a post-mortem exam will be arranged.

The drivers of the other two cars were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to receive an assessment.

A Garda forensic team examined the road and the local coroner has been notified.

Gardaí are asking for any witnesses of the crash to come forward, particularly those who have dash-cam footage and were travelling on the N17 at the time.
