A 29-year-old woman had a lucky escape last night after she got into difficulty trying to rescue her dog from the water at Courtown Harbour in Co. Wexford.
The Jack Russell terrier named 'Holly' went into the water off the pier at around 10:45pm last night.
The woman got into the water using a lifebuoy and a rope to rescue him but was unable to climb back up the rope because of the temperature of the water.

A member of the public raised the alarm and the RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew from Courtown were quicly on the scene.
They managed to get the woman and her dog to safety.
They say the quick thinking of the person who raised the alarm almost certainly prevented a tragedy.
