Gardaí are investigating after a young boy was found dead in a car in County Waterford in the early hours of this morning.
The boy was found unresponsive in the car outside Dunmore East shortly after midnight.
He is believed to be around six years old.
A woman in her late 30s was arrested at the scene and is being held at a Garda station in Waterford.
She can be held for up to 24 hours.
The child's body has been removed to Waterford University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination and the State Pathologist's Office has been informed.
Gardaí say the results of a postmortem will determine the course of their investigation.
